As many as 359 players, featuring 247 Indians and 112 from overseas, will be up for grabs in the IPL 2026 mini-auction, slated to be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16
Earlier on Tuesday (December 9), the BCCI unveiled a trimmed down list of 350 players from over 1300 registrations. A few hours later, the board released a revised list featuring nine more names.
The new additions include Swastik Chikara, released by defending champions RCB last month, and Virandeep Singh, the only player from an Associate nation (Malaysia) in this year's auction pool. The other seven players are Manisankar Murasingh (Tripura), Chama Milind (Hyderabad), K.L. Shrijith (Karnataka), Ethan Bosch (South Africa), Chris Green (Australia), Rahul Raj Namala (Uttarakhand) and Virat Singh (Jharkhand).
Franchises will compete for 77 available slots overall, including 31 spots reserved for overseas players. The highest reserve price remains INR 2 crore, with 40 players choosing to enter the auction in this bracket.
Meanwhile, the BCCI also corrected a goof-up made in the released list of players set to go under the hammer at the auction next week.
Nikhil Chaudhary was earlier listed as an Indian player, which caught the attention of fans on social media. The fans were confused as to how Chaudhary was listed as an Indian uncapped cricketer when he features in foreign leagues such as the BBL.
After a massive uproar, the board rectified the mistake as Chaudhary has now been listed as an Australian cricketer, which means he will be added in the overseas quota if any team look to sign the 29-year-old during the auction.
