Despite reports claiming that the BCCI is set to host the IPL 2026 auction at home later this year, a new rumor has claimed that the auction will, in fact, be held overseas.
Given that the suggested timeframe coincides with the country's festival and wedding season, it appears that securing a suitable venue will be difficult. As previously reported, the auction is expected to take place around mid-December, give or take a few days, and most likely in the second part of the month.
According to the Cricbuzz report, the likely destination is expected to be someplace in the Gulf region, as usual. Abu Dhabi in the UAE appears to be a strong contender, but other Middle Eastern locations, including Oman and Qatar, are also being considered.
The BCCI is anticipated to formally announce the date and venue before November 15, which is the deadline for franchises to submit their list of retentions and releases for IPL 19.
