Shubman Gill, who was appointed India’s Test captain ahead of the England tour earlier this year, managed to break his toss losing streak on Friday (October 10).
After losing six tosses in a row as Test skipper, Gill finally had fortune on his side as he won the toss before the start of second Test against the West Indies in Delhi.
Subsequently, head coach Gautam Gambhir and the Indian bowlers celebrated the toss win, sharing some playful banter with Gill at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Shubman Gill elected to bat first without hesitation, keen to make use of the favourable conditions on Day 1 of the second Test.

Notably, Gill had failed to win a single toss across five Tests in his maiden series as captain - the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Still, India managed to draw the series 2-2 in England. In the first Test of the home season at Ahmedabad, India lost the toss but went on to thrash the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs.
