Shubman Gill, the Indian Test skipper, spoke about the team supper provided by head coach Gautam Gambhir on Thursday, ahead of the second Test against the West Indies. He explained that such events are held two to three times per series to assist players in bonding better.

The second Test between India and the West Indies is set for Friday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India leads the series 1-0. Before the match, Gambhir hosted a meal for the players, coaching staff, and BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla at his home on Wednesday.

Gambhir organized an open-air supper for the entire team and support crew. The crew arrived at Gambhir's apartment by bus, dressed casually. Shubman Gill, India's captain, wore a t-shirt, blue denim, and black glasses.  

Most of the team, including Jasprit Bumrah, Dhruv Jurel, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, assistant Ryan ten Doeschate, and bowling coach Morne Morkel, wore white. Rajeev Shukla, the BCCI vice-president, was also present at the meal.

“Team dinners, I think, used to happen before as well. Team dinners, on any tour, you go. So, most of the players are very busy. Many of the players have their own families. In the ground, we meet, spend a lot of time together. But a lot of conversations are limited. So, it is important that for any team, you know each other off the field as well.

So, I think, the team dinners that we do, we try two or three times in every series, that the team comes together once, and there is a very light atmosphere," Shubman Gill said as per ANI.

The second Test against West Indies will begin on October 10 in Delhi, and India leads the two-Test series 1-0, after a thumping innings win in Ahmedabad.
