KL Rahul scored a brilliant century in the ongoing first Test between India and the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The right-handed batter reached his 11th hundred in Test cricket and celebrated the milestone on Day 2 (Friday, October 3).

India resumed the second day of the first Test at 121/2 with Rahul (53*) and Shubman Gill (18*) at the crease. Shubman Gill hit a fifty in his first Test innings as captain in India, but was then removed for 50.

KL Rahul continued on and played some amazing strokes and brought up his century in 190 balls. This ended a 3,211-day drought for a hundred in-home conditions in red-ball cricket. After reaching the milestone, Rahul unveiled a new celebration.

He removed his helmet and acknowledged the crowd, and then put two fingers in his mouth as the crowd cheered.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir was extremely pleased, clapping with the rest of the support staff. Chants of "KL Rahul, KL Rahul" resonated around the stadium, even though the stands were far from full.

Before Friday, Rahul's previous home century was against England in a December 2016 Test in which Karun Nair got his legendary triple century.

Unfortunately, KL Rahul couldn’t make that ton count, as he fell in the first over after lunch for 100 in 197 balls, as he was caught in the covers by Justin Greaves off the bowling of Jomel Warrican.

Meanwhile, Rahul’s wife Athiya Shetty posted a story on her Instagram with caption: “The best for his best”. This alludes that KL Rahul’s new celebration was for their daughter Evaarah.
