Shubman Gill started his Test captaincy stint at home on a good note as the Indian team defeated the West Indies in the second Test in Delhi to win the two-Test series 2-0. India defeated Windies by 7 wickets in the Delhi Test on day five on October 14, 2025.
India had batted first after winning the toss and scored 518/5d, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and Shubman Gill (129*) being the main scorers, while Jomel Warrican took 3/98. In reply, the West Indies made 248, with Kuldeep Yadav taking 5/82 for India.
Asked to follow on, the West Indies did much better, scoring 390 runs thanks to 115 by John Campbell and 103 by Shai Hope. This set India a target of 121 runs to win the Test and the series.
India lost the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (8), Sai Sudharsan (39), and Shubman Gill (13), but KL Rahul’s 58* took India past the finish line, with 7 wickets in hand.
Kuldeep Yadav won the Player of the Match for his 8 wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja got the Player of the Series for his 104 runs and 8 wickets.
