The Indian team finds themselves ahead in the second Test against the West Indies, being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, on day three of the match on October 12, 2025.
India had declared their first innings on 518/5d thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 175, Shubman Gill’s 129*, and Sai Sudharsan’s 87. In response, the West Indies made 248 runs in the first innings, with Alick Athanaze making 41 and Shai Hope making 36 runs.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav took 5/82 and Ravindra Jadeja took 3/46. West Indies was asked to follow on.
In the midst of everything, KL Rahul’s playful antics caused huge confusion amongst commentators and officials. He playfully flicked off the bails as all players assumed that lunch had been taken, only to be told by the umpires that one over was still left to be bowled. This moment of chaos happened right at the close of the first session on Day 3.
The incident occurred after the 71st over of the Windies' first innings, when Indian cricketers assumed the session had completed and began walking to the dressing room for lunch.
The bails had already been removed, leading analysts such as Murali Kartik to read the Windies' scorecard and assume it was the break. Even the umpire went beside the cricketers, signifying the session's conclusion.
However, as umpire Richard Illingworth moved to his place at the non-striker's end, he called the cricketers back, causing a chaotic situation. Broadcasters later revealed that Rahul had removed the bails, which added to the confusion.
