India all-rounder Hardik Pandya took the South African attack to cleaners in the fifth and final T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday (December 19).
Coming to bat at No. 5, Hardik launched a brutal assault on the Proteas bowlers right from the outset, hitting Corbin Bosch for a six on the very first delivery he faced.
He continued his carnage and cruised to a half-century off just 16 balls - the second fastest for India in T20Is after Yuvraj Singh’s 12-ball fifty versus England in Durban during the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Hardik was eventually dismissed by Ottneil Baartman in the final over for 63 off 25 deliveries. His knock was studded with five fours and as many sixes.
During his whirlwind display, Hardik Pandya was involved in a fourth-wicket partnership of 105 runs with Tilak Varma, who scored a brilliant 73 off 42 balls with 10 fours and 1 six.
Thanks to their superb innings, the Men in Blue racked up a massive 231/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
