Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra took a subtle dig at Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan and him making a documentary after hitting an Indian pacer for three sixes in the recent Asia Cup T20 2025 tournament.
The dig came as India dominated South Africa in the first T20I of the five-match series that was played in Cuttack on December 9. India made 175/6 thanks to Hardik Pandya’s brilliant 59* and Tilak Varma (26 off 32), and Axar Patel (23 off 21) also made valuable contributions.
Then four Indian bowlers, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel took two wickets each, as the Proteas were bowled out for 74 runs, who were defeated by 101 runs.
During the match, when the Proteas were on 28/2 in the fourth over, Bumrah bowled a good-length delivery on the last ball after Aiden Markram had smashed a six.
Commentating at the time, Chopra said, “Bumrah ko chhakka maarna itna aasaan nahi hota. Kabhi lag jaaye to kuch log documentary bana lete hain [It’s not so easy to hit Bumrah for a six. If someone manages to do it once, some people even make a documentary on it].”
This was a subtle dig at Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, who became the first batter to hit Jasprit Bumrah for a six in T20Is during the Asia Cup tournament in the UAE. Farhan had even shared a clip of a documentary made on his innings against India as he made three half-centuries in the three matches that Pakistan lost to India, including the final on September 28.
