Shubman Gill, India’s T20I vice-captain, is set to play in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, starting December 9. This is after he received his fitness certificate from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) and has been deemed fully fit and available for selection across all formats.
Shubman Gill had notably suffered a neck sprain during the Kolkata Test against South Africa and had to be hospitalized as well in the city. He had traveled to Guwahati for the second Test as well, but was ruled out due to injury, with Rishabh Pant captaining the Indian team.
Medical officials claim that in addition to finishing his rehabilitation, Gill fulfilled all performance and physical requirements needed to resume competitive cricket. His recuperation has been closely observed, and the outcomes have been described as "satisfactory and successful."
Gill will be officially released from the CoE and given a thorough clinical handover to the appropriate Sports Science & Medicine (SSM) staff, who will be responsible for his reintegration into training and game preparation.
Gill has been chosen to participate in the forthcoming five-match Twenty20 International series against South Africa, which will start on December 9. His participation was contingent upon the CoE's fitness clearance, which he has since obtained.
The first T20I between India and South Africa will be played in Cuttack on December 9.
