India and South Africa are clashing in the first ODI of the three-match series that is being played at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi on November 30, 2025. India is captained by KL Rahul in the absence of regular captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer, who are both out due to injuries.
Temba Bavuma also missed out as Aiden Markram came out for the toss, which he won and decided to bowl first. India included Ruturaj Gaikwad at the no. 4 slot, with Yashasvi Jaiswal opening the innings with Rohit Sharma. India played three spinners and three pacers in their bowling unit.
Yashasvi Jaiswal looked in good touch, scoring 18 in 16 balls, with two fours and one six, before Nandre Burger had him caught behind. This brought Virat Kohli to the crease, and the ace batter looked well set from the get-go.
He started with a four-off burger and continued to toy around with the bowling. One of his most imperious shots came against Burger on the fifth ball of the eighth over.
The left-arm pacer bowled a length ball outside off at 146.1 kph, and Kohli just smashed it through the line over long off for a huge six.

Then, in the very next over bowled by Ottniel Baartman, Virat Kohli showcased his swift footwork, and he advanced down the track and launched the length delivery over the mid-off region, and the ball comfortably sailed over the ropes for a six.

Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have looked in terrific form in the ongoing first ODI, with Rohit Sharma equaling the record for most sixes in ODIs, going past his record of 351 maximums.
