South Africa, the reigning World Test Championship holders (WTC), completed a historic 2-0 series sweep of India in their own backyard. This came after the Temba Bavuma-led side defeated India by 408 runs in the second Test in Guwahati on November 26, 2025.
Tasked with 549 runs to win the Guwahati Test, India had lost two wickets by stumps on day four. And things didn’t get better on day five either. Kuldeep Yadav (5), Dhruv Jurel (2), and Rishabh Pant (13) all fell to Simon Harmer, while Sai Sudarsan’s 139-ball 14 came to an end after he was caught in slips off Senuran Muthuswamy.
Ravindra Jadeja hammered 54 in 87 balls but was stumped off Keshav Maharaj as India folded for 140 runs in the second innings, losing the game by 408 runs. Simon Harmer finished with 6/37, while Maharaj took two wickets.
South Africa handed India their biggest loss in Tests in terms of runs and also created history by clean sweeping them and winning their first Test series since 2000. Marco Jansen won the Player of the Match for his seven wickets in the match and knock of 93 in the first innings.
Simon Harmer won the Player of the Series for his 17 wickets, the most by a South African bowler in India.
The two teams will now engage in a series of three ODIs, starting November 30, and then in five T20Is that begin on December 9.
Meanwhile, the cricket fraternity was all praises for the South African team led by Temba Bavuma for their dominating show against India and lauded them for their 2-0 series win.
