Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli touched down in Ranchi on Wednesday (November 26) to prepare for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, slated to get underway on November 30 at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium.
Upon his arrival at the Birsa Munda Airport, Kohli received a warm welcome from the fans. He was also greeted by Jharkhand-based former Indian cricketers -- Shahbaz Nadeem and Saurabh Tiwary.
Kohli was surrounded by the security guards all the way through as he boarded a car to reach team hotel.
Having retired from T20Is and Tests, Virat Kohli has become one-format player for India. He was last seen in action during the ODI series in Australia last month. While Kohli bagged a duck in the first two ODIs at Perth and Adelaide, he ended the series with a match-winning knock of 74* at SCG.
KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in this series due to regular ODI skipper Shubman Gill's absence. Gill is currently undergoing medical assessment in Mumbai following a neck injury sustained during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata.
The team will also miss vice-captain Shreyas Iyer, who is recovering from a spleen injury. Iyer picked up the injury while taking a catch to dismiss Alex Carey in the Sydney ODI last month.
