Cricket South Africa (CSA), on Monday, October 27, 2025, announced the South Africa Test squad for the two-Test series in India. The two-test series will begin on November 14 in Kolkata with the first test, and the second test will be played in Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati from November 22.
Temba Bavuma returns as South Africa captain after missing the recent Pakistan Test series, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
“The South African Men’s selection panel has announced the 15-player squad for the two-match Test series against India from 14 to 26 November in the subcontinent. Test captain Temba Bavuma returns to the side after missing the recent Pakistan Test series as he completes his recovery from a left calf strain,” CSA posted on X.
Bavuma is not part of the white-ball series in Pakistan but has been named in the South African A side to play India A in a first-class match in Bengaluru before joining up with the Test squad.
He replaces David Bedingham in the South Africa squad that played Pakistan. With Tony de Zorzi, Tristan Stubbs, Dewald Brevis, Aiden Markram, and Zubayr Hamza all in the squad, there is no room for Bedingham in this squad.
South Africa has continued with their three best spinners, with Player of the Series in the Pakistan series, Senuran Muthuswamy, and Player of the Match in their win over Pakistan, Keshav Maharaj, and Simon Harmer in the side. Kyle Verreynne and Ryan Rickelton are wicketkeeping options.
Kagiso Rabada will lead the pace bowling unit, also featuring Corbin Bosch, Marco Jansen, and Wiaan Mulder.
