Rishabh Pant is considered a fun character because of his playfulness and stump mic chatter. On Day 1 of the second Test against New Zealand in Pune, the Indian wicketkeeper once again hogged the headlines with his banter game.

However, Pant was caught off guard during a hilarious exchange, involving Washington Sundar and Ajaz Patel. During New Zealand’s first innings, the stump mic caught him advising Sundar about bowling strategy against Ajaz.

“Washy thoda aage daal sakte hain, you can bowl a little fuller. Thoda bahar dal sakta hai,” Pant was heard saying.

Sundar followed the suggestion and pitched the ball fuller, but much to everyone's surprise, Ajaz smashed a boundary straight down the ground.

Pant’s reaction to the shot turned the moment even more amusing. He was left baffled to see his plan getting backfired, and quipped: “Yaar, mereko kya pata isse Hindi aati hai.”

The joke being that Ajaz Patel, an Indian-origin player representing New Zealand, understood Rishabh Pant’s message delivered in Hindi and responded accordingly with his bat.

Here’s the video of the incident:

Coming to the match, Washington Sundar starred with the ball as he claimed a seven-wicket haul to help India bundle out the Kiwis for a modest 259 in the first innings.

The hosts ended the opening day at 16/1, with Shubman Gill (10*) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (6*) at the crease. Skipper Rohit Sharma was the only batter to get out as he was dismissed by Tim Southee for a nine-ball duck.
