After getting bowled out for a historic low of 46 in the first innings, India bounced back in the second dig. Riding on Sarfaraz Khan’s maiden Test ton (150) and crucial half-centuries from Rishabh Pant (99), Virat Kohli (70) and Rohit (52), the hosts racked up 462 runs on the board.

However, the Kiwis chased down the modest target of 107 with ease to claim a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.

With the series at stake, questions are being asked regarding what sort of pitch would be in store for the second Test, slated to be held in Pune from October 24.

According to a report published in ESPNCricinfo, a slow turning pitch is likely to be served for the second Test.

The report also claimed that the surface packed with black soil will be having lower bounce as compared to the series opener in Bengaluru. The track is also expected to be a bit flatter, slower and virtually devoid of grass.

In such a scenario, the Indian team management is likely to go with three specialist spinners, just like Bengaluru.

On Sunday (October 20), the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee added spin all-rounder Washington Sundar in the Indian Test squad. This inclusion is curious given that the home team already Axar Patel as the fourth spinner in the squad, also featuring R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.
