
India opener Shubman Gill broke a host of ODI records as his side faced England in the third and final ODI of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 12, 2025. India already leads the series 2-0 and is looking for a whitewash.
Jos Buttler, the England captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first. England made one change as Tom Banton replaced Jamie Overton in the playing XI.
For India, three changes were made as Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja were rested and Varun Chakaravarthy suffered a calf injury. In their places, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Washington Sundar were included in the XI.
Rohit Sharma failed to continue his return to form as he was out caught behind for 1 run in the second over of the match. But then Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli (52) added 116 runs for the second wicket. Kohli got out just after finishing his fifty.
Shubman Gill carried on at the other end and crafted an excellent century, his seventh for India in ODIs. It took 95 balls for Gill to reach the three-figure mark, and he hit 14 fours and 2 sixes. He also added 104 runs for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer, who made 78 runs.
Shubman Gill was clean-bowled by Adil Rashid for 112 runs with 14 fours and 3 sixes. Thanks to his excellent knock, Shubman Gill also broke a host of records in ODI cricket.
