Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen visiting the famous Kalighat Kali Temple in Kolkata ahead of the Men in Blue’s first T20I of the five-match series against England. This match is to be played at the Eden Garden in Kolkata on January 22.
Gambhir has significant ties to Kolkata. From 2011 to 2017, he led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) of the Indian Premier League (IPL), leading the franchise to two memorable titles.
He returned in 2024 to coach KKR to their third championship. His affinity for the city goes beyond cricket, as he frequently uses opportunities like these to immerse himself in its cultural and spiritual past, especially before important tours.

Under Suryakumar Yadav's leadership, India will look to reclaim their winning ways in this series. The five matches versus England provide a great platform for the Indian team to fine-tune its strategies and boost its confidence.
The five-match T20I series against England will be followed by a three-match ODI series as well. The ODI series will be India’s only 50-over assignment ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan and Dubai.
