Gill, who was unbeaten on 26 overnight, batted with a lot of content in the morning session on Day 2. The right-hander notched up his half-century off 64 balls and carried his domination over the English bowlers.

Shubman was severe on both the pacers and spinners. He raced to his hundred with a boundary off Shoaib Bashir in the 59th over. It was his fourth century in Test cricket and it came off 137 deliveries.

After reaching the three-figure mark, Shubman Gill took his cap off and performed his trademark ‘bow down’ celebration.

Shubman’s father Lakhwinder, who was in attendance at the picturesque HPCA Stadium, also stood up on his feet with pride. His fists were clutched, arms up in the air and moving rhythmically as the cameras caught him celebrating his son’s ton.

Shubman Gill was eventually dismissed by James Anderson in the post-lunch session for 110. During his knock, he was involved in a 171-run partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma, who also slammed a brilliant hundred (103).

Gill also brought up 400 runs in the ongoing series against India en route to his dazzling ton in Dharamsala.
