Indian wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav showed a remarkable gesture of respect to R Ashwin by offering him the match ball despite him taking a five-wicket haul on the first day of the fifth and final Test against England.
Ashwin, who is playing his 100th Test match for India, was handed the ball by Kuldeep, as he wished for the veteran to lead India off the field after England was bowled out for 218 runs on the opening day of the fifth Test and final Test at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
However, Ashwin insisted that it was Kuldeep who deserved the honor of leading India off the field, as he lauded the left-arm spinner's stellar performance in dismantling the English batting lineup on the opening day.
The BCCI shared a short clip on its official social media handle, X, where Kuldeep can be seen handing the ball to Ashwin to lead the team off the field, but the senior off-spinner refused to do so and insisted that the wrist-spinner does the honor of taking the team off the field.
Well, at the end, Kuldeep led the team off the ground, as the entire team can be seen applauding the wrist-spinner for his fourth five-wicket haul in Tests. Notably, Ashwin picked four wickets in the first innings to have a dream start to his 100th Test against England.
