Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said that Sarfaraz Khan's style of batting is better suited to Test cricket after his recent impressive performances in his debut Test series against England.

Team India is set to face England in the fifth and final Test of the ongoing five-match Test series at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on March 7. Ahead of the final game, Ganguly stressed that Sarfaraz's game is better suited to Test cricket than T20Is.

Notably, Sarfaraz received his Test cap from former India skipper Anil Kumble, and the 26-year-old showcased his talent by scoring two half-centuries on debut, a feat achieved by illustrious names such as Sunil Gavaskar, Dilawar Hussain, and Shreyas Iyer.

The talented Mumbai batter boasts an impressive record in first-class cricket, having scored 4056 runs in 47 matches at an outstanding average of 68.74. His tally includes 14 centuries and 13 half-centuries, which shows his prowess and consistency in red-ball cricket.

Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying by Revsportz: “I think he’s more of a five-day player. His game is suited for that. T20 is a different format. And the amount of runs he scored in domestic cricket, in the Ranji trophy and in first-class cricket has been phenomenal. And as they say, if you score runs, it doesn’t go to waste. And that’s exactly what’s happened to Sarfaraz.”

Notably, India have already clinched the Test series against England having won the second, third and fourth game of the home series. England had won the first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad.
