India managed to keep their first-innings deficit a lot in the ongoing fourth Test against England in Ranchi and all credit went to young keeper-batter Dhruv Jurel. His resolute batting and brilliant partnership with Kuldeep Yadav brought India back in the game.
Dhruv Jurel was on 10 when India lost their 7th wicket on 177 in the form of R Ashwin. Jurel got the partner he needed as Kuldeep Yadav possesses goog defense for a lower order batter. Kuldeep played 131 balls and 117 minutes for his 28 runs and added 76 runs for the 8th wicket bringing India back in the match.
Jurel, on the other hand, continued to make runs. But with the wickets of Kuldeep and then Akash, he had to press on the accelerator. He was on 90 when he got one of the best deliveries from Tom Hartley, which bowled him.
It was a brilliant knock from the young keeper-batter, as his 90 took 149 balls and hit 6 fours and 4 sixes in his stay. His knock helped India post 307 runs and kept England’s first innings leads to 46 runs.
The maturity of Jurel’s knock was visible as he marshaled the tail very well, farming strike beautifully, and trusted his partners to play out a few deliveries.
He received unanimous praise on social media as cricket experts saluted his brilliant knock.
