IND v ENG 2024: WATCH- Yashasvi Jaiswal’s hat-trick of sixes against James Anderson

Jaiswal equaled Wasim Akram's record for most sixes in a Test innings- 12.

Yashasvi Jaiswal | BCCI XYashashvi Jaiswal had given a scare to Indian team management on day three after he had to retire hurt near the end of the play due to a back issue. He was seen uneasy and the physio had to come out to treat him. Jaiswal tried to be brave and stay out there after treatment.

But he couldn’t manage and decided to retire hurt and was replaced by nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav. Then Shubman Gill and Yadav safely took India home at the end of the day. The duo resumed on day four which saw Shubman Gill getting run out for 91 and missing out on a deserved century.

But then Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to resume his innings and started in the top gear. He took the attack to the bowlers and completed his 150 in no time. He was looking ominous against spin and hence Stokes brought on James Anderson.

Similar to what he did yesterday, Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to take the pacer on. He tried to hit his first ball but missed as Anderson bowled a wide one, following his shuffle.

The 41-year-old compensated on the next ball with a full toss, which Jaiswal swept over deep square leg. In a bid to keep the ball away from him, Anderson bowled a full wide ball, but the opener shuffled and hit it flat over deep extra cover to make. But, Jaiswal was far from done.

Then Anderson bowled a length ball on the 6th stump that Jaiswal muscled away over the top of the bowler’s head for a third consecutive six and raced to 177 in four balls.

In due course, Jaiswal also became the first Indian batter to hit 10 sixes in a Test innings, bettering the record previously held by Mayank Agarwal and Navjot Singh Sidhu, who had both hit 8 sixes each. He also equaled the world record for most sixes in a Test innings of 12, held by Wasim Akram.
