Sarfaraz Khan reached his fifty on debut in just 48 balls | GettyYoung Sarfaraz Khan made a mighty impressive debut for India in the ongoing third Test against England in Rajkot on February 15, 2024. It was a long wait for the talented batter from Mumbai and he made every second of it count when he was in the middle.

India batted first after Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss. The skipper and Ravindra Jadeja then combined 204 runs for the fourth wicket after Mark Wood and Tom Hartley reduced India to 33/3 in the first nine overs.

Rohit Sharma hit his 11th Test century, reaching 131 with 14 fours and three sixes before being dismissed by Mark Wood.

Ravindra Jadeja then moved forward with debutant Sarfaraz for the company. But the right-hander took the initiative and counterattacked England's bowlers. Sarfaraz rushed to his fifty in 48 deliveries.

He was batting on 62 in 66 balls, with seven fours and one six, and had added 77 runs with Jadeja for the fifth wicket. He was welcomed to Test cricket with bouncers by Mark Wood but then took the attack to the England bowlers.

Sarfaraz hit 9 fours and 1 six and looked at ease both against the pacers and the England spinners. He employed the sweep shot well to counter the spinners. His brilliant innings was cut short on 62 when he was run out by Wood after a mix-up with Jadeja, who was looking for a quick single to complete his century.

However, Sarfaraz gave a small glimpse of his amazing talent with the bat and the cricket fraternity lauded him whole-heartedly on social media.
