Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan lavished praise on the young Indian batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal, for his incredible batting performance in international cricket. Even Pathan went on to compare Yashasvi with the former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly for his strong off-side game.
Since his debut in the West Indies last year, the left-handed batsman has amassed 637 runs in six Test matches at an impressive average of 57.90, including two centuries and two fifties.
His performance in T20Is is equally remarkable, having scored 502 runs in 17 matches, including a century. Jaiswal recently smashed a double ton in the second Test of the ongoing five-match Test series against England in Visakhapatnam. He will be next seen in action in the Rajkot Test.
Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports: “There’s one player who I’m excited for, he is Yashasvi Jaiswal. Now, it has to be seen how he performs in IPL. What an exciting player he is… Kamal ka player hai. He possesses the off-side game, just like Dada (Sourav Ganguly).”
Pathan added, “Just like we used to see him and say, ‘He’s the king of the off-side’. If he goes on to play for the next 10 years, we will speak about his game as much as we spoke about Dada’s. Jaiswal is that kind of a player. And now he has scored a double hundred in international hundred and he has a great background story.”
