Bumrah was the Player of the Match in India's Vizag Test win with 9/91.

Jasprit Bumrah was the Player of the Match in India's Vizag Test win with 9/91. | BCCI India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been brilliant for India in the first two Tests against England. He picked 6 wickets in the first Test in Hyderabad, which India lost.

However, he saved his best when it mattered the most. He was the lone pacer in Indian XI for the second Test against England which was played in Visakhapatnam and shined brightly. On a pitch that was spin friendly, and England spinners outshined their Indian counterparts, Bumrah stood tall.

On a placid wicket, Bumrah picked up 6/45 and 3/46 as India won the second test by 106 runs and leveled the series 1-1. The Gujarat pacer also won the Player of the Match for his efforts as he completed 150 wickets in Test cricket.

But as per Cricbuzz reports, the national selectors, in consultation with the team management, are considering resting Bumrah for the Rajkot Test to ensure he returns rejuvenated for the final two Tests. The reason is him bowled over 32 overs across four intense days, sapping his energy despite Bumrah showing his brilliance. He had also bowled 25 overs in the Hyderabad Test.

Mohammed Siraj, who was given a similar break for the second Test, is expected to be recalled by the selectors. And he is expected to lead the pacer attack in Rajkot, another venue, where spin will be the king. The team selection is anticipated to be finalized on Tuesday.

The report also stated that Mohammad Shami has been sent to London for treatment for his troubling ankle, and his recovery period is anticipated to be longer than initially expected.
