The Indian team captain Rohit Sharma announced the playing XI for the second Test against England at the toss. The match got underway on February 2, 2024, and India won the toss and chose to bat first.
There was a lot of curiosity amongst Indian team fans as to who would make their Test debut- Sarfaraz Khan or Rajat Patidar in place of injured KL Rahul. Majority of the Indian fans wanted Sarfaraz Khan to make his debut for India, given his exploits in Indian domestic cricket.
But when Rohit Sharma revealed that Rajat Patidar had been chosen for his maiden Test appearance, the social media was abuzz. Many were disappointed that someone as deserving as Sarfaraz Khan wasn’t picked over Rajat Patidar, who has been in the Indian squad as a replacement for Virat Kohli.
Social media users were not pleased with Sarfaraz missing out and they expressed their feelings regarding the matter.
