India found themselves in huge trouble as Ravindra Jadeja was run out by the brilliance of England captain Ben Stokes. Requiring 231 runs to win the first Test match in Hyderabad, India was reduced to 119/6 in short time.
Jadeja’s wicket fell in the 39th over which was bowled by Joe Root. Joe Root bowled a full-toss as Jadeja drove the ball confidently in front of mid-on, where Stokes was stationed. The English captain ran in and on collecting the ball, reverse flicked it onto the stumps at the bowler’s end.
And even the lightning-fast Ravindra Jadeja was found short of his ground.

Murali Kartik, on commentary, called it “Sheer brilliance” as Jadeja was declared run out for just 2 runs after facing 20 deliveries. Shortly after his wicket fell, England dented India’s hopes further by removing Shreyas Iyer.
Tom Hartley did the main damage, picking the first four wickets to fall, including those of Yashasvi Jaiswal (15), Shubman Gill (0), Rohit Sharma (39) and Akshar Patel (17).
Earlier, Ollie Pope hit 196 as England ended their second innings on 420 all out. Jasprit Bumrah got four wickets and bowled Pope to wrap up the England innings in the first session in Hyderabad after the tourists resumed the day on 316-6.
