Former England captain Nasser Hussain said that the departure of Harry Brook is a big setback for the Ben Stokes-led England cricket team in the upcoming five-match Test series against India.

However, the well-known commentator Nasser Hussain stressed that Brook should prioritize his personal and family well-being first and that people should wish him well. Brook returned home, and Dan Lawrence came in place of the star batter in the England squad for the Test series in India.

Notably, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed Brook's exit, saying he's returning home due to 'personal reasons' and will miss the upcoming Test series against Team India. He took a flight for the UK from the UAE, where England had a training camp.

Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports: “Yeah, it’s a big miss. But the first consideration has to be the individual, the duty of care of that individual. We all must wish Harry and his family well.”

He added, “Test cricket is important, but your family and yourself are more important. For personal reasons, he has headed home. Hopefully, everything will be okay.”

Hussain also gave Lawrence his due credit, hailing him as a 'seriously fine cricketer' and stating that he would be a great addition to the team because he of his ability to bowl off-spin.

Hussain signed off by saying in Brook’s replacement, “They like Lawrence, he offers a bit of spin as well. It’s a blow for the lads who are with the Lions, but they are for the reason. But Dan Lawrence is a seriously good cricketer.”

The five-match Test series between India and England will kick off with the first match being played in Hyderabad on Thursday, January 25.
