IND v ENG 2024: “Bazball is not going to work for England”- Harbhajan Singh ahead of Test series

The five-Test series between India and England will begin in Hyderabad from January 25.

Bazball batting by England will be in focus during India Test series | GettyFormer India spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that he doesn’t feel England’s famous ‘bazball’ strategy to go after the bowling no matter what, will work in India. His words come ahead of the first match of the five-Test series that begins in Hyderabad on January 25.

England have almost changed the face of Test cricket with their aggressively-styled ‘Bazball’ strategy. This has brought them unprecedented success both at home and overseas as well. This new batting approach helped them demolish New Zealand at home in 2022 and then won the rescheduled fifth Test against India.

England took the same approach to Pakistan as well and routed them 3-0 in their own home. Though they were given a good fight by Australia, England managed to end the Ashes 2023 with a 2-2 result.

‘Don’t think there’s a better leg-spinner in country’- Harbhajan Singh baffled at Yuzvendra Chahal being ignored

However, the majority of experts and cricket pundits said that the true test of the ‘bazball’ approach will be in countries like India and Australia. England batters will play against top-quality Indian spinners on spin-friendly surfaces in the upcoming series.

And Harbhajan Singh also feels the same and feels ‘Bazball’ will not work in India.

The conditions are going to be very difficult for England. There will be turn from the very first delivery and spinners from both sides will get purchase. England will be able to dominate only if they get a pitch which has nothing to offer to spinners,” Singh was quoted by Times of India.

The last time England toured India in 2021, they were routed 2-1 on spin-friendly tracks in Chennai and Ahmedabad.
