Former Indian cricketer Rohan Gavaskar lauded Shivam Dube for his brilliant performance and taking the opportunity with both hands in the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan.
The Mumbai all-rounder has been turning heads with his excellent performances in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, putting the Indian selectors in a bit of a dilemma. The situation is getting trickier with the possible return of Hardik Pandya to the Indian squad.
With key players like Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav sidelined due to injuries, Dube has taken on the role of India's main all-rounder and impressed many with his batting and improved bowling skills.
He already smashed two fifties and took a couple of wickets to help India take a 2-0 lead in the T20I series against Afghanistan.

Well, Gavaskar highlighted the challenges the Indian think tank will face in selecting the squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in 2024, given Dube's impressive form and Hardik’s return to the side.
Rohan Gavaskar was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “He is doing all that he can, which is giving the selectors a headache. We have been talking about him as, 'Oh, listen, what if Hardik is unfit?'”
He added, “I think what he is doing is making sure that even if Hardik is fit, he is on that plane in that World Cup squad. If you put in performances like this, it is very hard for anyone to drop you. After these two games, I think he now feels that he belongs at the international level.”
Dube has made 60* and 63* in two T20Is against Afghanistan and has picked two wickets as well.
