Former Indian batter and cricket expert, Aakash Chopra, believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal should be included in Team India’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Chopra’s comments came after Yashasvi played a significant role in India's series-clinching win over Afghanistan in the second T20I.

Jaiswal put up an electrifying performance in the second T20I on January 14 in Indore and played a big role in India's convincing six-wicket win and securing a 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

The left-handed batter’s explosive batting saw him score a quick 68 runs off just 34 balls, including six impressive sixes that thrilled the crowd in Indore.

Jaiswal's aggressive approach right from the start set the tone for India's successful chase, reaching the target comfortably with 26 balls to spare. Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra said that it would be unfair if Jaiswal was not selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 ahead of Shubman Gill.

Aakash Chopra said on JioCinema: “Yashasvi is going. Again, the way he is batting. You will feel it would unfair if you did not take him. Sometimes you are undroppable, meaning he is selectable, that is why he is here making runs. Now he has gone beyond Gill. But now you will not be able to touch him.”

Chopra added, “You should not even try for it, because you need something like this while batting. Otherwise, it will be the same as 2022 again and again everything will be the same, the style of playing will be the same and only the year has changed.”

Suresh Raina also lauded Jaiswal’s attitude by saying, “His work ethic is very good, he has disciplined character, more than that he is not afraid of the first ball, he will go and will show intent the same way in the T20 World Cup.”

Raina added, “The good news is that we have already toured the West Indies and have already scored a hundred in a test match there.”
