Kohli was dismissed on a crucial time but that didn't affect India's chance of winning.

Shardul Thakur may not have made an impact with the ball in third ODI against West Indies, but he did make a difference with the bat. The Indian pacer conceded 66 runs in 10 overs and picked only one wicket as West Indies scored 315/5.

While India's top order, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli smashed a half-century each, India needed Shardul to contribute with the bat too. The chase got interesting after West Indies bowlers started picking wickets. They removed a well-set Kohli with 23 balls left and 30 runs to get. Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja were the last recognized pair for India.

Thakur came in to stay with Jadeja, but he ended up scoring 17* runs in six balls which changed the game.

None expected Shardul to score the majority of the remaining runs that too with a strike rate of nearly 300. The Indian dressing room was delighted with the finish. Kohli was impressed with how Thakur batted.

The Indian captain posted a picture with Shardul for his cameo and captioned it in Marathi. He tweeted: “Tula maanla re Thakur”, which translates to “Hats off to you Thakur”.

Jadeja, who stitched up a partnership of 58 with Kohli, scored unbeaten 39 off 31 balls.
