India's opener KL Rahul ended the T20I series against West Indies on a high with a 91-run innings at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. It was a phenomenal knock to keep India ahead in the game in the first innings.
Rahul, in his 56 balls long innings, smashed 9 fours and 4 sixes. Indian skipper Virat Kohli wanted one of the openers to convert the start to a big inning, and Rahul ensured it by batting till the last over. The highest scorer of the match, Rahul was awarded man of the match for his innings.
After the game, his best buddy Hardik Pandya, who is currently recovering from back surgery, interviewed him for BCCI.tv. Hardik was in the stadium to witness the high-voltage match on Wednesday. Hardik asked Rahul about his innings and how he produced those gorgeous shots. In reply, the opener said it was Pandya's presence which inspired him to play those big hits.
Further in the chat, KL lauded Virat Kohli's knock and how he was fired up to smash the opposition bowlers. Pandya too noticed how Kohli was aggressive and was eager to go out and bat on a batting assisting track.
Hardik revealed that this was his first game at Wankhede as a spectator. He said his appearance in the stadium was lucky for the team. In the end, Rahul said team India is waiting for Hardik to return. "We are waiting for you to come back quickly and the dressing room feels empty without you at least for me," Rahul replied when the injured all-rounder expressed how much he wanted to join the team on the field seeing them play.
