Virat Kohli led from the front to help India beat West Indies by six wickets in the first T20I in Hyderabad on Friday (December 6).

Chasing 208, Kohli scored a masterful 94 not out off 50 balls as the hosts overhauled the daunting target in 18.4 overs. His scintillating knock was studded with 6 fours and as many sixes.

Even though Virat missed out on his maiden T20I hundred, he garnered praise from both fans and former cricketers for showing tremendous grit in a tough chase.

Among many, legendary West Indies batsman Sir Vivian Richards heaped praise on the Indian captain as he tweeted, “Amazing. Just amazing, @imVkohli” after the match.

Overwhelmed by receiving the ultimate compliment from Richards, Kohli on Saturday (December 7) replied: “Thanks big BOSS. Coming from you means a lot.”

Apart from Kohli, KL Rahul impressed at the top of the order scoring 62 runs off 40 balls, including five boundaries and four sixes. Earlier, India couldn't stop the West Indies from scoring a formidable total of 207/5 in 20 overs.

With this victory, the Men in Blue also secured a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Thiruvananthapuram will host the second game on Sunday (December 8).
