Batsmen have dominated the ongoing ODI series between India and West Indies. Eight centuries have already been scored in four matches while five of the eight innings have produced 300+ totals.

The trend is unlikely to change in the series decider fifth ODI at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.

"We have prepared a wicket that will assist batsmen and free stroke-play and like other matches, we can expect a 300-plus total here also," former Kerala Cricket Association secretary Jayesh Geoge told TOI.

When the Greenfield International Stadium hosted its maiden international last year, a T20I between India and New Zealand, the match was curtailed to an eight-over contest due to rain. The most noticeable thing in that match was the way ball was gripping and coming off the wicket.

"There was obviously some dampness underneath because of all the rain that time. This time, we have got enough sunshine for the preparation of the wicket and the ball is expected to come onto the bat," he added.

However, with Greenfield International Stadium hosting only one first-class match earlier in the Ranji Trophy season, there is very little evidence to assess how the pitch would behave.

“A practice match was held last week and both teams scored over 200 runs from 30 overs,” the organisers said.

The BCCI south zone head of curators S Sriram is heading the pitch preparation along with KCA curators Biju AM and Hamza.
