India beat Sri Lanka by 78 runs in the third and final T20I at MCA Stadium in Pune on Friday (January 10) and clinched the three T20Is series by 2-0.
Earlier on a good batting surface, Sri Lanka asked India to bat first and Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul gave a flying start of 97 runs and set the platform for a big score. Both KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan got out after notching up their respective fifties. In the end Manish Pandey, Virat Kohli and Shardul Thakur's cameos helped India to post a huge total 201/6 on the board.
In reply, Sri Lanka had a very poor start and lost four wickets for just 26 runs. Angelo Mathews and Dananjaya de Silva tried to rebuild the innings but the damage was already done and whole team was bowled out for a mere 123 runs. Dananjaya de Silva notched up his fifty and for India Navdeep Saini took 3 wickets. Shardul Thakur was named Man of the Match and Navdeep Saini was awarded with Man of the Series award.
