On the eve of the second Test against South Africa in Pune, India skipper Virat Kohli had an impactful practice session to regain his form in the longest format.

As per his high standards, Kohli is having an average year in red-ball cricket in 2019. In four Tests this year, the No. 2 ranked batsman has aggregated only 210 runs at an average of 35 with two half-centuries.

During the first Test against South Africa at Vizag, Virat scored 20 and 31 not out across the two innings. He was dismissed by debutant Senuran Muthusamy in the first innings.

While Kohli was seen slogging it out in the nets ahead of the Pune Test, he denied having any strategy behind this kind of practice.

“No, I just wanted to have some fun today. I don’t do everything with strategy all the time. It’s important to enjoy yourself as well,” he replied in the pre-match press conference when a reporter quizzed if this tactic was to combat the Proteas spinners.

Having won the first Test in Vizag by 203 runs, Team India leads the three-match series 1-0. The hosts will look to replicate the same performance in the second Test to take an unassailable lead in the series.
