The Indian team tightened their grip on the first Test against South Africa at Vizag thanks to amazing innings, first from Rohit Sharma, who made 176 and then from Mayank Agarwal, who slammed his maiden Test ton and then converted it to a double century.
Mayank Agarwal was aggressive in its approach and though he gave respect to good deliveries and some tight bowling, he was ferocious whenever he got a chance to score boundaries, he never let it go. India kept losing wickets at the other end, as Kohli fell for 20, Pujara fell for 6 and Rahane got out for 15.
Agarwal kept going and accelerated as India looked to declare and got out in trying to hit Dean Elgar for a six. He made 215 in 371 balls with 23 fours and 6 sixes and fell with India’s score on 436 runs.
The Indian cricket fraternity was amazed at the way Mayank went about doing his job and lauded his brilliance on Twitter.
