IND v SA 2019: Tumi Masekela to replace Greg King as South Africa fitness trainer

Masekela will join King in the South Africa camp for the Test series.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday (September 24) announced that Tumi Masekela will be replacing Greg King as fitness trainer of the national team after he decided to end his tenure after India tour.

Having been a part of South Africa team management since July 2013, King has now decided to quit the job at the end of the upcoming Test series in India due to family responsibility reasons.

In a statement, King thanked the CSA for the wonderful opportunity while calling his last six years with the Proteas set-up as some of the best years of his professional life.

As per CSA's official website, King said: “The last six years with the team have been some of the best years of my professional life. I have thoroughly enjoyed working in this environment with some of the best players in the world. It has also been an honor and a privilege to call some of the best coaching and support staff in world cricket my colleagues and I will miss being a part of this very special set up massively.”

He signed off by saying, “I must also thank Cricket South Africa for the wonderful opportunity. It's a phase of my life that I will never forget and I wish everyone all of the best going forward.”

South Africa A fitness trainer Masekela will take over from King with immediate effect as he will join King in the Proteas camp in India for the Test series to begin the handover process.

Noteworthy, Proteas will lock horns against Virat Kohli and Co. on October 2 in the first Test of three-match Test series at Visakhapatnam after leveling three-match T20I series against the hosts.
