Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is taking his snub from India's T20I squad since the tour of West Indies last month just one year prior to the World Cup in Australia next October in a very positive manner.

The youngster, currently playing a four-day encounter versus the visiting South Africa A side in Bangalore, is in fact quite excited about the coming Test series against the Proteas.

"I did well; my stats are good. Maybe the selectors feel they need to give me a break from T20Is, and that some changes are required. I respect that, and I have no complaints. I see this as an opportunity to do well in Tests," Sportstar quoted Kuldeep as saying on Thursday (September 19).

"Playing red-ball cricket is difficult, specially when you are a regular in white-ball cricket. It was important for me to come here and bowl as many overs as possible. There is still plenty of work to do."

Kuldeep is desperate to earn a regular place in the Test side but isn't guaranteed to do so as veterans Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja still rank ahead of him in the pecking order, especially at home.

"When three best spinners like Ashwin, Jaddu (Jadeja) and I are in the squad, it’s challenging for the selectors to pick the right combination," he said. "You need to be ready to grab your chance. Of course, there is pressure because you only get a few chances, and you have to make full use of them."

Skipper Virat Kohli just recently gave away one of the reasons of India trying out a few spin bowling all-rounders rather than specialist leg-spinners in Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep at the moment in T20Is, as he and the team management wants to explore the option of a lengthy batting line-up.

And that is an area Kuldeep is also working on. "I’ve been working on my batting with (previous India batting coach) Sanjay Bangar. I feel my batting is good at the test level," he said.
