The three-match T20I series between India and South Africa was reduced to two matches after rain washed out the first match at Dharmasala. Rain only got heavier in the first T20I and even toss wasn't possible before the game. Eventually, the officials decided to call off the game.
Fans may not have to face disappointment one more time in Chandigarh as the weather forecast for the second T20I looks good.
As per the forecast, the match may not face rain interruption, and the temperature will be around 30-degree Celsius. Light south-easterly and east-southeasterly winds are expected right through the evening, and the precipitation levels will remain low.
Mohali has been a high scoring pitch, and fans are expecting a run-feast in the second T20I. It has good bounce which helps both, bowlers and the batsman. Batsman often struggles in the two-paced pitches.
Daljit Singh, the ex-chairman of BCCI pitches and ground committee, was the Mohali stadium's curator since the mid-1990s. Singh said the pitch has started to suit batsman more than the bowlers.
"Every pitch has a shelf life. For more than 26 years cricket is being played here. A lot of cricket has been played on the Mohali tracks in this period. So, it is bound to lose its original character. The important thing is to prepare a pitch which offers a bit of everything to the cricketers," he said.
Daljit feels the game between India and South Africa may see a high-scoring clash. "We take care of the pitches very well in the off-season. No cricket action is witnessed in July and August on the Mohali pitches," added Daljit.
