IND v NZ 2023: WATCH – Ishan Kishan cheekily dislodges bails to give Tom Latham a taste of his own medicine

Ishan Kishan played a trick against Tom Latham | Hotstar/ScreengrabIndia wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan gave New Zealand’s skipper Tom Latham a taste of his own medicine during the ongoing first ODI at Hyderabad.

While keeping wickets in India’s innings, Latham touched the bails with his gloves after gathering the ball, resulting in Hardik Pandya’s dismissal. In the TV replay, it was clearly visible that the ball didn’t hit the bails but the third umpire gave the decision in New Zealand’s favour.

When Latham came out to bat after the dismissal of Henry Nicholls in the 16th over, the hosts made an appeal on the very first delivery he faced from Kuldeep Yadav.

As it turned out, the southpaw was nowhere near the stumps and it was Kishan who cheekily dislodged the bails. When the decision was sent upstairs, the Indian glovesman had a witty smile on his face, perhaps reminding Latham of Pandya’s bizarre dismissal earlier in the day.

Here’s the video:

Coming to the match, India piled up a massive 349/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Shubman Gill starred with the bat, scoring 208 off 149 balls with 19 fours and 9 sixes.
