IND v NZ 2023: Shreyas Iyer ruled out of New Zealand ODIs due to back injury; BCCI names replacement

The first ODI will be played in Hyderabad on January 18.

India defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in the ODI series at home, while New Zealand is coming off a 2-1 ODI series win in Pakistan. But here the Black Caps will be without captain Kane Williamson and Tim Southee.

Meanwhile, ahead of the first ODI which will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, India camp was hit by an injury, as batter, Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a back injury.

Team India batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a back injury. He will be heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further assessment and management,” BCCI said in a statement.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee decided to include Rajat Patidar as a replacement for Iyer in the Indian squad for the New Zealand series.

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, KS Bharat (wk), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Rajat Patidar, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik.
