India and New Zealand will clash in a three-ODI series starting January 18 onwards and then in a three-T20I series which begins on January 27 onwards. Both teams will be at the top of their games.
India defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in the ODI series at home, while New Zealand is coming off a 2-1 ODI series win in Pakistan. But here the Black Caps will be without captain Kane Williamson and Tim Southee.
Meanwhile, ahead of the first ODI which will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, India camp was hit by an injury, as batter, Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a back injury.
“Team India batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a back injury. He will be heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further assessment and management,” BCCI said in a statement.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee decided to include Rajat Patidar as a replacement for Iyer in the Indian squad for the New Zealand series.
