Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar heaped praise on Prasidh Krishna and suggested the national selection committee to consider the Karnataka speedster for Test cricket, much like Jasprit Bumrah was backed in 2018.

The 25-year-old recorded the best-ever bowling figures for an Indian bowler on ODI debut when he took 4/54 in the 1st ODI, which India won by 66 runs. He also made an impact in the second game when he dismissed Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler in the same over though England won by 6 wickets to level the series 1-1.

"I tell you what, with those seam up deliveries, he is someone that the Indian selection committee must consider seriously for red ball (Tests) as well," Gavaskar said during his TV commentary on Star Sports during the 2nd ODI.

"Just like Jasprit Bumrah, from T20s and ODIs, has now become India's premium bowler in the Test format, Prasidh Krishna with his pace and the seam-up position could be a very, very good red ball bowler as well."

Prasidh has captured 34 wickets in nine first class games so far, besides taking 87 wickets in 50 List A games.

The three-game ODI series will be decided on Sunday when India and England clash in the final game in Pune.
