Rahul arrived in the middle when the hosts were struggling at 37/2 in the 9th over. Despite the pressure situation, the right-hander didn’t let the English bowlers dictate terms as he shared a 121-run stand for the third wicket with skipper Virat Kohli to bail India out of trouble. In the process, he also completed his fifty off 66 balls.

After Kohli’s dismissal on 66, Rahul joined hands with the swashbuckling Rishabh Pant and the duo made the mockery of England attack with their dazzling strokeplay. The pair added 113 runs for the fourth wicket to put India in a commanding position.

Amid the partnership, Rahul notched up his fifth century in the 50-over format off 108 deliveries. He was eventually dismissed by Tom Curran in the 45th over for 108 off 114 balls.

For his knock, which was laced with 7 fours and 2 sixes, KL Rahul garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
