England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes received an official warning from the on-field umpires after he mistakenly applied saliva on the ball during the Indian innings in the second ODI on Friday, March 26.

After the first ODI being won by India by 66 runs, Virat Kohli led side once again locked horns against England in the second ODI at Pune.

England’s stand-in skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and asked Team India to bat in a must win encounter for visitors.

In the fourth over of India’s batting innings an incident took place when premier English all-rounder Ben Stokes applied saliva on the ball, which has been banned by the ICC post COVID-19 forced break, and promptly the on-field umpires Nitin Menon and Virender Sharma sanitized the ball and warned skipper Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes.

This was the second time Ben Stokes was warned by the on-field umpires on tour of India, earlier being during the pink-ball Test match last month, which India won by 10 wickets.
