Former England captain Nasser Hussain has expressed his surprise to see every Indian debutant performing well on the day.
Akshar Patel made his international debut in the Test series while Mumbai captain Suryakumar Yadav and Jharkhand skipper Ishan Kishan made their international debuts in the T20I series against England.
While Akshar kept piling on records one after the other, both Kishan and Suryakumar recorded half-centuries in their first outings with the bat.
Later on, Prasidh Krishna made his international debut while Krunal Pandya made his ODI debut in the first ODI at Pune. Krishna picked the best bowling figures by an Indian on ODI debut (4/54) while Krunal registered an unbeaten half-century.
Vaughan is now looking at the long list of Indian debutants with outstanding performances.
Not to forget, Shubman Gill, Mohammad Siraj, Washington Sundar, and technically, Shardul Thakur, also played their first Tests down under and performed well.
Hussain told Sky Sports, "Every single debutant they bring in, puts in a performance… whether it’s Prasidh, Krunal Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan… the list is long.”

The 52-year-old also felt that England Test captain Joe Root would have been an ideal choice at the position where the visitors were cruising at 135/0 while chasing 318. His sensible batting would have taken the pressure off England and continued to keep them in the driver’s seat.
Hussain said, “England will look at themselves – 135/0 in 14 overs and 2 balls chasing that score. Did they need to be a little bit smarter? How much did they miss Joe Root… just to come in and knock it around and before you look at it, Root often is 40 off 50 balls and has soaked up the pressure.”
“England has this way of going hard… they showed in the last World Cup. There are times they can just sit in and be smart. You don’t win that low-scoring World Cup without having that capability, but I just don’t think they were smart enough today. Hardik Pandya probably wouldn’t have bowled and Kuldeep was really struggling.”
“So they had effectively four and a half bowlers and you had to force Virat to bowl Hardik Pandya and they didn’t because they kept losing wickets and Kuldeep could just come on at the end when the game was already lost,” he added.
