Shreyas Iyer was left in pain after dislocating his shoulder during the first ODI against England | GettyThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday confirmed that batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against England in the ongoing series and will be exiting the team’s bio-bubble.

Shreyas Iyer had separated his shoulder during a fielding attempt in the first ODI on March 23 in Pune and is all but ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) as well.

"Iyer has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs, he will be exiting the bubble," the BCCI media manager said before the start of the pre-match press conference.

However, Shreyas Iyer tweeted that he is confident of making a strong comeback post-recovery.

On Wednesday, ANI had reported that Iyer may be forced to undergo surgery on his left shoulder which could lead him to miss the entire IPL season starting April 9. The DC skipper subluxated his left shoulder during the England innings in the first ODI at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Tuesday.

"The preliminary view is that he requires surgery but further opinion has been sought from an expert in this regard and if the surgery takes place, which seems likely, he would miss the entire IPL season," the source had explained.
