Australia fast bowling legend Glenn McGrath took to his Instagram account and congratulated India’s Prasidh Krishna on his amazing ODI debut against England in Pune on March 23.
Prasidh Krishna was the bowling hero for India as they defeated world champions England in the first of the three ODI matches in Pune. India was asked to bat first by Eoin Morgan, who won the toss, and thanks to Shikhar Dhawan’s 98, Virat Kohli’s 56, and slam-bang fifties from Krunal Pandya and KL Rahul, India posted 317/5 in 50 overs.
England got off to a very good start with Jonny Bairstow (94) and Jason Roy (46) adding 135 in 14 overs. However, Shardul Thakur (3/37) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/30) pushed England batsmen back. But it was Prasidh Krishna who picked 4/54 in a beautiful second spell of fast bowling, that stole the show in the second half.
IND v ENG 2021: "I want to be called a hit the deck bowler," says Prasidh Krishna
It was a brilliant performance from the Karnataka bowler, who has honed his skills in the MRF Pace academy under the watchful eyes of Glenn McGrath himself, who is the head of the academy in Chennai. Prasidh Krishna also broke the Indian record for the best bowling figures on debut and also became the first Indian to pick 4 wickets on ODI debut.
McGrath had previously congratulated Prasidh on his selection in India’s ODI team and now praised Krishna’s brilliant performance on debut.
"Congratulations Prasidh @skiddyy on taking 4/54 & breaking the Indian record for most wickets taken by a bowler on ODI debut. Well done mate #cricket #mrfpacefoundation #fbc,” McGrath posted on Instagram.
